Proteins as Drugs: Overcoming Hurdles and Future Challenges

This year, the Crossroad of Biotechnology will present the 12th edition of its annual conference, to be held at the Biotechnology Research Institute of the National Research Council (NRC-BRI), June 13-14. In 2007, the spotlight will be on health and, more specifically, on the current and future generations of therapeutic proteins and the development of protein and peptide mimetics.

The 2007 Crossroad will focus on the timely theme of 'Proteins as Drugs, Overcoming Hurdles and Future Challenges'. The program will conclude on the second day with an afternoon on Biotransfer that in a business-like environment will showcase selected technologies from both NRC-BRI and McGill University.

Conference themes are as follows: antibody-based therapeutics; protein therapeutics and protein and peptide mimetics. Confirmed speakers include such people as Bernard Prigent, Pfizer Canada; Janice Reichert, Tufts University and Roger MacKenzie, ISB-CNRC/NRC-IBS.
